Iain Goodwill Trust
Fundraising in 2011
We have had a busy year working on Iain’s awareness leaflet and have not done much fundraising this year. However, we are once again indebted to Anneliese and David Garvie and Jennifer Kennedy who are completing the First Monster Challenge for the third successful year and raising money for Iain’s Trust. This is a relay duathlon around Loch Ness over some very rough terrain and up some very steep hills – not to be compared with a run around the park and a cycle to the shops! Please help them along the way with a donation through Justgiving, thank you.
Mark is now getting withdrawal symptoms from the lovely European mountains and is intending to cycle across the Alps in September 2012. The Raid Alpine, sister to the Raid Pyrenean, is a mere 740km over 31 mountains totalling over 16km of vertical ascent – all in 5 days! I will be in touch . . .
If you would like to join me, or raise money in any other way please get in touch, thank you.
Fundraising in 2010
We are grateful to so many people who have given freely of their time and talent to raise money for Iain's Trust. Most recently we would like to thank the Caithness Orchestra for the money they raised at a concert in Thurso in December, and the partygoers at the New Year's Eve party in Bishopthorpe, York for their generous support.
Mark raised over £3,000 in September whilst loving every minute cycling the Raid Pyrenean – 450 miles of cycling from the Hendaye on the Atlantic to Cerbere on Mediteranean, over the Pyrenees (11,000m of vertical ascent) in less than 100 hours – including eating and sleeping! Please look at the photos! This was a fantastic experience, if a little painful on occasions!
