Iain Goodwill Trust
2009: culture and endeavour
Music
Torridon, the outstanding, MFR Award Winning Scottish dance band generously played at Kiltarlity Village hall on the 28th February 2009 to raise money for Iain’s Trust. We all had a fantastic evening, thank you Torridon!
Walking
Lesley Wright walked the West Highland Way in May. This is a very challenging walk from Glasgow to Fort William through some of Scotland's remotest and most beautiful countryside.
Running
On 31st May - the hottest day of the year, Will I'Anson completed the Albert Bartlett Edinburgh Marathon 2009 in 3 hours 54 minutes to raise funds for Iain's Trust. We are so grateful to him for raising almost £6,000.
Polly Wong and Rachael Sergeant both ran the famous Newcastle half marathon, The Great North Run for the first time on 20th September 2009 raising more than £1,000.

Also in September a team of budding athletes completed The First Monster Challenge, a relay duathlon event around Loch Ness – a mere 77ish miles. Anneliese and David Garvie, Jennifer Kennedy and Mark Goodwill completed this team event well up the field in an impressive 7 hours 51 mins.

Mark and Victoria Phillips ran the Loch Ness Marathon on 4th October 2009, Mark completing it in 3 hour 46 minutes this time. He says "never again!" but surely he will want to see how much more he can knock off his time in 2010?
Music
In May 2009, Highland Chamber Orchestra performed two family concerts which raised around £800 for Iain's Trust. It was fantastic to see nearly a hundred children attend these concerts, enjoying Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf and Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks. The concerts were given the week Iain should have celebrated his third birthday and the programme included a short Trauerwalzer ("Waltz of Sorrow") written by Helen in Iain’s memory.
